Motel was a very convenient location with reception staff cheerful and helpful. Unfortunately it was very noisy from the road and other visitors staying at the motel. There were old blood stains on the sheets and pillow cases, and the coffee cups had old coffee remnants in the bottom of the cups.

Clean and tidy motel that is basically in the central city. It is close to a wide range of eating and dining options as well as other amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful. value for money. The room had a smart TV so was able to access Netflix. It was great value for the tarrif and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

This is an honest review. I read other reviews and the hotel rated as very good. Not sure who wrote those reviews. Stayed 4 nights. Three of the four nights had to deal with screaming from within hotel, fights in car park, items being broken, men urinating in car park. I did not feel safe at all in this hotel. Raised issue with manager, who is not on site, so he can only look at security cameras but does nothing at the time to deal with the problem. The room itself is good, managers are friendly and has off street parking, although i did not feel my car was safe. I cannot recommend this hotel until they fix the after hours problem to make it safe for customers. Certainly not a hotel that i would take my wife.

I had asked for 2 single beds in the room as I had my daughter with me, but my call was never returned & when my daughter checked us in, she was informed there was no other rooms available.

Motel is on the Main Street so night noise is expected and the railway is very close so train whistles go at all hours but even with that I would stay there again. Rooms are not ground level so if you can’t do stairs it would be no good.

Comfortable and basic
The staff at Matilda were fab, very helpful and attentive. When I needed extra nights due to the cyclone affecting my plans, they were very accommodating and I even got to stay on the same room.
Overall, the room was comfortable and satisfied my needs.
I felt it was overpriced due to it being rather rundown and in need of updating, plus the pool was unusable (it was very dirty and had the pool hoover (or something) in it) which was one of the main reasons I booked this motel.
